First-Year Memory Afghan

Now is the perfect time to think about a memory afghan commemorating the events of the first year. Create a 12-month afghan to record the events of a specific calendar year, or create a 13-month afghan starting and ending with the month of birth, wedding, etc.! Each day of the year is worked in a color representing the high temperature of the day and 20 different appliqués are provided to mark specific events throughout the year. All motifs are connected using a join-as-you-go technique. A picot border surrounds the afghan.

Materials:

The model was created with soft worsted weight yarn. A size H (5.00 mm) crochet hook was used for the daily motifs and a size G (4.25 mm) crochet hook was used for the appliqués.

Finished Sizes:

12-Month Afghan: 49" wide x 97" long
13-Month Afghan: 53" wide x 97" long
